A Big Thank You To All Who Made The 2011 Holiday Home Tour A Great Success

The Oneonta Foundation for Educational Resources (OFFER) is very grateful to all of the citizens of Oneonta and Blount County who made this year’s OFFER Christmas Home Tour a big success. First and foremost, sincere thanks go to the homeowners, Jack and Pat Standridge, Jan Mooney, Steve and Diane Clowdus, and to the Calvary Episcopal Church for providing wonderful venues for the tour. Each property included in the tour was beautifully decorated and presented its own unique aspect of Christmas. Special thanks go the members of Calvary Episcopal Church who prepared and served delicious refreshments and provided organ music for the tour goers’ enjoyment. OFFER extends thanks to the Oneonta city School teachers who served as additional hosts and hostesses at the homes. Many thanks, too, to the city-school students who directed traffic and assisted in various ways throughout the hours before and after the tour. Sincere thanks, appreciation, and applause go to Rita Allen, Josephine Rouse, and Camille Shirley for providing lovely music during the afternoon’s activities. The Blount Countian is thanked for providing complete and comprehensive coverage of the tour for a month prior to the actual tour date. Alpine Advertising, which provided excellent and creative cable coverage promoting the tour and WCRL-WKLD for their timely radio spots covering the tour are thanked as well. Many thanks go, finally, to all who purchased tickets for the tour. This support will greatly assist students and teachers of Oneonta City Schools in the coming years. OFFER Grant Helps With Purchase of Smart Boards for Oneonta City Schools

By partnering with the Oneonta City School Board, the foundation was able to help fund the purchase of Smart Boards for many classrooms. Grants from OFFER totaled $15,000 toward that project. With this fourth holiday tour, OFFER hopes to eventually help fund this interactive technology for all classrooms at Oneonta City Schools, as well as to provide grant money for enhanced instructional materials. View the photos below to see the Smart Boards at work in the classroom.
